AIT for Asperger's
Berard method AIT is one of the few programs that is helpful for the treatment of autism spectrum disorders such as Asperger's Syndrome. AIT has been shown to help normalize the way the brain processes information so that we often see a reduction in the sensory sensitivities so common in Asperger's. Once there is less sensory overload, we often see improvements in mood, behaviors and the ability to handle difficult social situations.
AIT uses filtered and modulated music to help stimulate the audiological and neurological systems. Since AIT uses sound, which is vibrational, going into the areas of the brain where all the different glands and organs are that control different senses and systems of the body, we often see improvements not only in the hearing but in other areas such as vision, taste, smell, touch, balance, coordination, and hand writing among others.
Dr. Berard utilized some of the ideas of Dr. Tomatis to develop his approach, however, where Tomatis focused on the psychological and emotional issues, Dr. Berard felt it was important to get at the hearing and brain functions. Once improvements in behavior and learning begin to occur, we often see improvements in mood and social skills as well.
'Not only did it help our son's hyper-sensitive hearing, but he started taking showers for the 1st time at age 15!'
