AIT for Central Auditory Processing Disorders

Berard method AIT is one of the few programs that is helpful for the treatment of disorders such as CAPD or Central Auditory Processing Disorder. AIT has been shown to help normalize the hearing, the auditory processing and the way the brain processes information so that we often see a reduction in the auditory delays and distortions that are most commonly found in Auditory Processing Disorders. Once there is more normalization of the auditory system, we often see improvements in speech and language development, receptive and expressive language and other related issues such as the ability to handle noisy environments and social situations.

AIT uses filtered and modulated music to help stimulate the audiological and neurological systems. One study of AIT showed increased cell growth in the corpus callosum which helps with right/left crossover functions such as handwriting and other fine and gross motor skills. We have also seen great improvements in comprehension, which of course can affect academic and learning abilities as well as focus and concentration.

"She went from being shy, withdrawn and kind of depressed, having lots of academic difficulties to being on the Honor Roll! She's like a different child now, outgoing and full of self-confidence. We are so pleased."
